Writing desk by H. J. Wegner for Johannes Hansen, 1970s. € 2450. Set of four "The Chair" chairs designed by Hans Wegner for Johannes Hansen of Denmark in 1949. The Chair was a collaboration of Wegner and furniture maker Johannes Hansen. The construction features 11 pieces of wood joined by 12 mortise and tenons and two large finger joints. It is not possible to discuss the design of Hans J. Wegner (1914-2007) without equally mentioning master cabinetmaker Johannes Hansen. A distinctive feature of furniture making in Denmark in the 20th Century was the close collaboration between architects and craftsmen – Wegner and Johannes Hansen enjoyed one of the most fruitful collaborations of the period.

This chair is designed by the renown designer Hans Wegner and manufactured by Johannes Hansen in Denmark in the 1960s. The model is less common. Wegner 'The Chair' Model JH503 in Teak by Johannes Hansen Denmark Circa 1954, the chairs upholstered in original black leather on teak frames come with the  Solid teak early Hans Wegner 501 arm chair with cane back leather seat instead cane impressed mark on the stretcher W.24.75 in;H.29.75 in;D.21.5 in; W.62.87  Hans Wegner / Johannes Hansen Valet chair PP 250 Wegner initially conceived of this chair with four legs but was unsatisfied with the heavy-looking form. The Copenhagen Museum of Art and Industry acquired the first Wegner chair in 1942. In 1944 Wegner designed the first of a long series of 'chinese' chairs for  Original Peacock Lounge Chair by Hans Wegner for Johannes Hansen.
